Lab Samples Workflow

This course equips nurses and phlebotomists to collect and handle laboratory samples accurately and safely in the home setting. Following the workflow end to end — pre-draw preparation, reading the lab voucher, verifying equipment, handling and packaging specimens, and final drop-off and reporting — it shows how to protect specimen integrity from the moment an order is confirmed to the moment the sample reaches the lab. Learners verify orders against the voucher, check expiration dates and label tubes at the bedside, document the draw, choose the right drop-off method, and close the loop with the care coordinator.
